Is Islam a threat to Western civilisation or is the West the real threat to itself?

I have much  affection and respect for the Muslim communities. I had the opportunity in 1967 and after to travel to Muslim countries – Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Malaysia, Sumatra/Java (Indonesia) plus numerous annual visits to Palestine between 1993 to 2019. I learnt to appreciate the virtues and not deny the vices of the Muslim world. I take much the same view of the West – much to appreciate and much to feel deep concern about.

As a founder of Prajna Vihar School in Bodh Gaya, India in 1992, we begun an inter-religious school to cultivate harmony and understanding between teachers and young people of different faiths and secular beliefs. Action speaks louder than words.

Guidelines for Managers for Dharma Teachings, via Zoom

I am writing to thank all managers for your immense support which enables the Dharma Teachings/Practices on Zoom to take place.

The number of Zoom/Skype meetings have grown over the months.

I have written Guidelines for Zoom Managers for my Zoom Dharma Teachings. I have mentioned details which will make it easier for myself with the workload and benefit those who register for Zoom teachings. The Guidelines show point of mindfulness for the managers to iron out and enable me to tweak any details I overlooked.

I teach in five time zones. I can set up a time zone but perhaps there is a change weeks later of one hour for summer or winter season in UK or elsewhere, or different time zones within other countries, or I make mistake. The two time zones fail to connect. Oops. It has happened. Apologies.

Some of the points listed below may be useful for other managers ensuring Zoom programmes take place with co-ordination with international content and time zones.

I have noticed on the statistics on this blog an ongoing increase in views. For example, there were more than 250,000 views of this blog since January 2021. It only takes a very tiny percentage of comments/inquiries to make a lot of daily emails in the in-box.

You may have more points. Let me know If any point is not clear. I can adjust text and send again to managers. Read the Guidelines carefully.

USA, NATO countries and President Putin have much in common. They think and act in similar ways. What conditions can end the war in Ukraine?

A Pathology of Praise. Emma Raducanu, 18, has become a Tennis Superstar. Will we see the best of her in or outside of Tennis, both or neither?

Along with nine million others, I watched the tennis match on Saturday evening (11 September 2021) on UKs Channel Four television when Emma Raducanu, 18, from Bromley in south London won the US Open in New York. …

Covid-19. We might think it will be all over soon. Perhaps the contagion has barely started. Who knows?

You may feel tired of reading, listening, watching and talking about issues related to the global pandemic.

Listen within. Respect your inner response. Please do not read anything below if it feels like it would be more information to absorb. Sense the aliveness of the day and connect with it – indoors, outdoors or both. I take breaks from Covid, Covid, Covid – despite regular expressions of concern.

Do the same. Take a break as much as possible from the Covid world. Find ways for renewal. Some of you engage in full time service to resolving the suffering around Covid-19. Please remember to connect with life outside the virus.

Don’t hesitate to skip the following.  There are straightforward concerns and questions. The critique does not contain the feel good factor. The last short section might serve as a reminder in daily life about priorities.
