A spoon of spirulina, not knife and fork into a cooked animal or bird

I  hear regularly enough from animal eaters that they need their protein. “I can’t do without my meat,” is a typical, unexamined one liner.

Most Buddhists are carnivores regardless of the pain inflicted on animals and birds  in the animal factories, as well as  fish farms,  transportation  to the abattoirs, as well very questionable methods of feeding animals and birds.

Why would anyone want to eat the stress imposed on farm animals and birds before their slaughter?

I recall years ago speaking at a Buddhist Environmental Conference in New Delhi, India, organised by the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. I commented: “Buddhists are always talking about saving all sentient beings. From my observation, Buddhists prefer eating them.”

Two months ago, I joined the  growing number of people who take a daily tablespoon of spirulina in powdered form in water or mixed with a juice.

Spirulina is a microscopic blue-green algae that exists as a single celled organism turning sunlight into life energy.

Spirulina  contains the highest concentration of protein by weight of any food known and is a complete protein.

The figure is between 65 and 71% protein depending upon the variety. Protein builds muscle and strength and a  balanced brain chemistry.

The British public consumes more than 10 million animals and birds every week in Britain alone for protein and to satisfy the addiction to eating the backsides of cows and  the legs of chickens.

Animal food products must be cooked to death in order to kill pathogens. Research shows that 50% percent of the protein in the heat is lost when the food is cooked.

Spirulina contains as much iron as red meat.

Spirulina  protein is more readily absorbed than animal protein because it can easily blended into cold water and tastes delicious mixed in with a fruit juice.

Spirulina is  one of the most effective ways to conserve natural resources and improve the environment.

UN World Food Conference voted “spirulina” as the “best food of the future” in 1974.

Leave your knife and fork in the drawer. Use daily a tablespoon for spirulina.

Let us show loving kindness to animals, birds, fish and all sentient beings.
